Last Friday I had the great privilege of going to hear the United States Army Field Band. Not only is this a fantastic ensemble that performs at the very highest musical level, but, they are a great group of people too!
The Army Field Band has performed with the Boston Pops on our televised July 4th concert. The rumor is that they might join us again this year…
To my surprise, the percussion section, with the approval of Colonel Jim Keene, invited me to sit in on cymbals for the Stars & Stripes march. Talk about an honor…not only was it exhilarating, but, it was great fun to play with a new groups of friends! Apparently, I join a select group of cymbal guest artists like John Beck.
I want to salute all the these great percussionists and their colleagues in the U.S. Army Field Band!
