“"In seeking great percussive sonorities, Neil has passion for innovation. Combined with Neil’s personal commitment to elevate the artistry of our craft, it’s no wonder that Grover Pro has become the benchmark of excellence.”“ — |
Representing a unique blend of musical talent, training, craft and experience, Marc Parmet brings a distinct voice to the art of percussion. His diversified musical talents lend themselves to a broad scope of styles and settings.
Marc began his distinguished career as a percussionist, studying at the prestigious Tanglewood Institute with Leonard Bernstein and Boston Symphony Orchestra Percussionists Tom Gauger and Charles Smith. Marc went on to study with the BSO’s renowned timpanist Vic Firth at the New England Conservatory of Music, where his fellow student included GroverPro’s founder Neil Grover. “Even then, Neil had the passion for seeking great percussive sonorities, and the desire to innovate. Combined with Neil’s personal commitment to elevate the artistry of our craft, it’s no wonder that GroverPro has become the benchmark of excellence.”
During his freelance career as an orchestral performer – with performance venues including The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Recital Hall, the Lucerne Festival, and Chautauqua Festival – Marc has appeared as a guest soloist with major symphony orchestras throughout the United States, including the Minnesota Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic, and Oakland Symphony, was a regular member of the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, substitute member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and timpanist of the Portland Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to his extensive orchestral experience, Marc has performed as a recording studio musician in Los Angeles, New York and Boston, and in live venues with renowned pop and jazz performances – among them members of the 10-time Grammy Award-winning group The Manhattan Transfer.
As an advocate for the advancement of music in media, Marc was a member of the Board of Directors for The Society of Composers & Lyricists – the preeminent association of film music artists, and a former member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and their music blue ribbon voting panel for the Emmy Awards.
Marc’s performances can be heard in works ranging from the iconic main title theme for PBS Frontline to feature film & television score, documentaries, and commercials.
As a founding member of Boston Jazz Quartet, Marc will be featured in the group’s reunion performance in the Fall of 2024.
