Shirley Ann Caesar-Williams, native born in North Carolina; known professionally as Shirley Caesar, is an American gospel singer. Her career began in 1951, at the age of 12. Throughout her seven decade career, Caesar has often been referred to as the “First Lady of Gospel Music” and “The Queen of Gospel Music”.
Everyone knows Pastor Shirley Caesar! Over an illustrious career spanning 6 decades, she holds the undisputed title – “Queen of Gospel”. She has won 12 Grammy Awards, as well as a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, 18 Dove Awards, 17 Stellar Awards, the Rhapsody & Rhythm Award, entry into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and more than 40 other outstanding awards.
Globally known and loved all over the world, Shirley Caesar has released over 50 albums. She has participated in over 18 compilations and three gospel musicals, Mama I Want to Sing, Sing: Mama 2 and Born to Sing: Mama 3, and a host of film and television series.
