Keegan Sheehy
Keegan Sheehy holds positions with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra (principal percussion) and the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. Based in Indiana, he is a past member of the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and has performed with the Louisville Orchestra, Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Carmel Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes.
Keegan has performed in such varied settings as the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, Make Music New York, Make Music Nashville, Pittsburgh Festival of New Music, the Center for Advanced Musical Studies at Chosen Vale, GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance, and the Midwest Composers Symposium. An advocate for new music, he has commissioned and premiered over 20 works, including a percussion concerto.
Originally from Massachusetts, Keegan earned a B.M. in performance from Ithaca College, followed by an M.M. and Performer Diploma from Indiana University. His past teachers include John Tafoya, Kevin Bobo, Gordon Stout, Michael Spiro, Steve Houghton, Conrad Alexander, and Deborah Welsh Ibanez. He has participated in masterclasses with Marc Damoulakis, Cynthia Yeh, Pius Cheung, Leigh Stevens, Michael Burritt, and more.
Outside of performing, Keegan is an arts administrator; and in his free time, he is an avid film buff, and enthusiastic hiker and traveler.
