Jovon Milford

Jovon Milford is a percussionist and educator dedicated to excellence in performance and music education. With experience spanning both higher education and public-school programs, he is recognized for building strong percussion traditions and mentoring students at all levels.
Jovan serves as Professor of Percussion Studies at Claflin University, where he teaches applied percussion and directs percussion activities within the music program. He previously held the position of Director of Athletic Bands and Director of Percussion at Limestone University, where he led marching and athletic band programs while continuing to develop collegiate percussion studies.
In addition to his collegiate work, Jovan has an extensive background in public-school education. He has served as a high school percussion instructor, assistant band director, and clinician, guiding multiple percussion ensembles to competitive success and state-level recognition. His teaching emphasizes strong fundamentals, musical discipline, and creative expression.
An active performer, Jovan has appeared with ensembles such as the Colour of Music Festival orchestra and has participated in major events including the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. He is also an engaged member of the Percussive Arts Society, contributing to the advancement of percussion education and performance.
Through his work as both a performer and educator, he remains committed to inspiring the next generation of musicians while advancing the art of percussion.
