Macau-born Marimbist and Percussionist Andrew Chan is an official endorser of Grover Pro Percussion (USA) and Adams Musical Instruments (The Netherlands). He graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Australia with a Master of Music Studies (Percussion Performance) and received numerous scholarships and performance awards including the first prize of Open Marimba Solo in the Australian Percussion Eisteddfod 2009.
Andrew’s past performance highlights include: 2016 ‘Coming Home at Beijing TsingHua University 105th anniversary show’ as the only artist of Hong Kong and Macau, 2017, 2015 & 2013 Beijing Modern Music Festival, ‘2015 Miss Universe China (Macau region)’, 2014 Solo concerts in Beijing National Centre for the Performing Arts and Shanghai Oriental Art Center, 2012 China-Australia official event as the Sydney Symphony Orchestra representative artist, 2011 YouTube Symphony Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble, Australian Percussion Gathering Gala 2010 and the Shanghai World Expo 2010, China, to name a few. He also released his first marimba and percussion CD album ‘ONE’ with China Records in 2012.
Andrew is now an active Marimbist and Percussionist presenting performances featuring contemporary and chamber works in various solo concerts and music festivals. In 2019, Andrew published a marimba video and became the first musician who plays and films at the Spectacle at Macau MGM Cotai. He is also the first percussionist who presented Marimba performances on variety shows in China. In 2020, Andrew was invited to give a solo recital at the Macau International Music Festival 2020.
In 2022, Andrew released his online marimba course which is the first online marimba course in China. He teaches as a percussion lecturer in various universities in mainland China and Macao, he is also the founder of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Percussion and Marimba Association (Macau).
