Berklee Students Visit Factory

Today, Berklee Professor Dean Anderson brought a few of his top students to visit the Grover Pro factory. The students took the factory tour, which includes both Grover Pro and SilverFox production. They were amazed at the level of "hands-on" craftsmanship that goes into every Grover Pro product. After a quick lunch, the students left with a new sense of respect for percussion manufacture!

Factory Visitors

We've started out 2010 with some distinguished visitors to the Grover Pro Percussion factory. On January 14th, Professor Scott Herring from the University of South Carolina came to Boston to visit us. While he was here, Scott picked out one of our new Bronze Pro Hammered Triangles. Scott had quite the day, squeezing in a visit to both Grover Pro and Zildjian!

The next day we welcomed a group of percussion students from the Sao Paulo State University in Brazil. This group of students form the percussion group PAIP and are on a multi city tour of the United States. Rumor has it that the group's director, Professor John Boudler, and Neil Grover were students together at Tanglewood back in the dark ages (mid 70's).

While at the Grover Pro factory the PIAP members went crazy picking out triangles, tambourines, mallets, woodblocks, snare drums, etc. It really created some havoc here at our headquarters, but everyone, including the Grover staff, enjoyed their visit immensely!

BSO Percussionist Lee Vinson Visits Factory

lv_visit.jpgBoston Symphony percussionist Lee Vinson took time out to stop by the shop and visit today. While he was here, Lee had a chance to provide some feedback on the new Grover G3 snare drum prototypes.

Lee made some great suggestions that will be incorporated into the next generation of prototypes. Lee also reported that his new "X-Series" tambourine (synthetic head) got lots of use this summer at Tanglewood (it rained most of June & July). He said that everyone loved the new instrument!

Emil got an opportunity to play one of our new prototype snare drums. It's a top secret project, currently reffered to as "G3". Here, Emil is photographed with one of the new models. Stay tuned for more details about our new snare drums!

LA Percussionist Judy Chilnick Visits Factory

judy_chilnick.jpgOn July 2nd, LA based percussionist Judy Chilnick stopped by the factory for a visit. Judy was particularly interested in our Bronze Pro triangles. Judy told us that she owns a 6" Bronze Pro which she not only loves, but that gets positive comments about the beautiful sonorities produced by her instrument. Judy picked out a 5" triangle to add to her collection. She also took the opportunity to hand select some Artist's Choice bamboo timpani mallets.

Judy is a busy freelancer and respected teacher in the LA area. Thanks for stopping by Judy!

Dutch Percussionist Visits Factory

arnold_marinissen.jpgArnold Marinissen, came all the way from Amsterdam and braved Mapquest's bad directions in able to visit the Grover factory.

Arnold is a renowned percussionist who has 3 solo CDs to his credit. He was a member of the Hague Philharmonic and has been a guest artist with many performing ensembles throughout Europe.

Arnold was impressed with the beautiful sonorities that our new Bronze-Pro Hammered triangle can produce. He has a masterful touch on triangle and creates a very lush triangle sound. After spending some time in the selection process, (his significant other was very patient), Arnold selected both a 6" and 8" model to take back to The Netherlands.

Gauw tot ziens Arnold!
